Within a month, I’ve had a few run-ins with people that may have the gift of foresight also known as the gift of prophesy.
I’m not a sensationalist nor a charismatic. However, I do believe that God’s gifted a few out there to be an encourager and to guide others through this gift called prophesy. TV evangelist have definitely abused it and given people inappropriate and false information. Thus am I more wary of people’s efforts to share their foresight with me. Again, I do believe that the gift is out there; when used appropriately and purely for the glory of God, it is so powerful that even I would be envious for a moment for such a gift of sight. However, too much knowledge is definitely dangerous and I’m happily humbled with my average present sight.
Yet it is definitely encouraging when these sight-gifted do share a little bit of revelation of my life God imparts upon them. Sometimes, you need this type of “pat on the back” just for a little confirmation that you are on the right track when there’s so much going on in your life that you feel a little out of sorts. How much more amazing is it to know that God has these great plans already etched and in the works. You just need to keep longing for and growing in Him and he’ll keep moving you along.
As to what has been shared for me, that will remain unsaid. But I can truly say they were encouraging. Specifics were not revealed. But that which was revealed can only leave me excited about the next chapters of my life.
